is the Deadline to register to vote in the General Election!

This Sunday, October 6th

Voting isn’t just about picking names on a ballot; it’s about shaping the future of our schools, parks, streets, trails—everything that makes Fairbanks, Fairbanks! It’s our chance to ensure our concerns are heard and our ideas are put into action! Local and State elections have such a huge impact on our day to day lives and our ability to do the work we do. That’s why FCAC has formed our own voter empowerment P.E.P. Team!

The PEP team comes together to help ensure information on how, when, where, and why to vote gets to as many community members as possible through direct outreach to our membership and the greater community. Keep scrolling for our list of resources, dates, and more info to help empower your vote!

do you know what's on the local ballot?

Find your sample ballots and check out the candidates

Make sure you are an empowered voter by learning about the candidates and issues! There are lots of ways to learn about who's running for office! Official Candidate biographies and position statements are available on the borough website, and you view a sample ballot for the borough here. If you are a resident within the Fairbanks city limits, youn can find a sample of the city ballot here. North Pole's city ballot can be viewed here.

Watch a local candidate forum

Many local groups have hosted local candidate forums and they are available online via a quick search engine inquiry. We typed in "Fairbanks Borought Candidate Forum 2024" and found a broad selection of forums that are available to watch.

Get a trusted opinion from someone who's done the research.

It takes a lot of time and energy to research candidates for office and our busy lives can make it really hard to do! If you think you aren't informed enough to vote, find a trusted friend or loved one with aligned values to see who they're voting for. There are also many organizations, groups, and individuals who publish public endorsements for candidates. Find a group that aligns with your values and vision and see who they are endorsing!

If you will be out of town, or can not make it to an in-person polling place, check out how to vote absentee by mail or electronic ballot below.

  • how do i vote absentee?

To vote absentee by mail or electronic ballot, you must submit a 2024 Absentee Ballot Application. Your application must be received by the borough clerk’s office (not postmarked) by the deadline listed in order to be processed, so make sure to send early if doing so by mail.

Alaska is a no-excuse absentee state, so you do not need to prove your reason for voting absentee. This means that if going to a polling place is inaccessible for you, voting absentee by mail or electronic ballot is a great way to empower your vote!

Let the P.E.P. team know if you need help figuring out how to vote absentee!
